The Dokis First Nation Band Council is mandated by the membership and dedicated to improving the quality of health and the well being of the community.
Through local management, health services delivery focuses on a holistic approach offering western and traditional healing choices. The complimentary relationship between the two healing traditions impacts on disease prevention, facilitation of recovery from illness and enhancement of well-being.
By concentrating on awareness, skills development, disease prevention, health promotion and community development, the individual and the community will make a personal commitment in improving the quality of life.

I have had the position of Program Support Clerk for the Dokis Health Centre since July 1995. With my position, I manage the Medical Transportation Program as well as the NIHB Long Distance Travel Program for Dokis Band Members.
I have 4 children (Amanda, Farah, Jordan and Candace) as well as 4 beautiful grandchildren.I have lived in Dokis since 1985.

I provide referrals and support to drug, tobacco and alcohol treatment service. My job is to coordinate, implement and administer community prevention, promotion and awareness programs for addictions such as drug, alcohol, tobacco and gambling.
Employment History: Employed as the Drug & Alcohol Prevention Worker with the Dokis Health Center since June 28, 2004.

Scope of Duties: To promote healthy lifestyles, awareness and education through Healthy Babies Healthy Children Programs, Canadian Prenatal Nutrition Program, HIV/AIDS, and various topics educating a variety of ages groups within the community.
To work collaboratively with the Environmental Health Officer, ensuring water safety, environmental issues (ie. dog bites, rabies reports, west nile monitoring, etc..), and submission of summer employment for two students to work under Green Plan. To provide assisstance and support to special needs clients. To provide and maintain supportive care to the elderly, chronic or frail through home visits.
I am a member of Dokis First Nation. I was hired as the Community Wellness Worker for the Dokis Health Centre in June 2007.
