Our Council

Chief Denise Restoule

In May 2004, I was elected to my first term on council. I worked for 30 years in the health profession as a direct service provider, a health planner and developer, and in management both at the community level and at the Federal government level. During my career, I pioneered and developed the first health worker program in Dokis. I was successful in expanding health services to 10 full time positions and to negotiate for an expansion to our Health Centre. On behalf of 3 First Nations, I assessed, planned, developed and negotiated with Health Canada for the successful administrative transfer of health to each First Nation. I was a keynote speaker at a National Conference in Aboriginal Health Needs. As a program manager with health Canada, I oversaw all aspects of the “Community Health Representative program” for all First Nations in Ontario. I assist my husband by doing bookkeeping and payroll for the Roger Restoule Construction. I currently hold the portfolios of – Lands Management, Lands and Estates and Community Welfare.

Derek Restoule

My name is Derek Rodney Restoule and I am 33 years of age. I have two children (Arizona and Sierra). My family and I currently reside on Dokis First Nation and I have lived here my whole life.

Education: Secondary Diploma

Life Experience: For the last six years, I have successfully owned and operated a logging business as well as holding brushing contracts with Nipissing Forest Management Inc. I am currently owner and operator of the Dokis Marina and Restaurant. My portfolios include Health, Membership, and Community Buildings, but I like to try and stay informed about all band business. This is my second term on Council and although some times there are tough decisions to be made that affect people on and off the Reserve, my decisions are based on fairness and equality to all band members.

Roger Restoule

I've recently been re-elected for my 8 th term on Council. I was born and raised in Dokis. I worked for a number of years, for the Band, as a machine operator. I started my own business in 1976 and am the sole proprietor of “the Roger Restoule Construction”. I build residential and commercial buildings, docks, and cottages and provide regular upkeep and maintenance to numerous cottagers on the French River. I employ (seasonally) between 7 to 12 people. During the winter, I operate a logging business. During my political tenure, I've actively participated in government-to-government negotiations, local community development initiatives, in refining the way we do business and in improving working relationships.

Tina Restoule

Hi, may name is Tina Restoule and I was elected to my first term on council in May 2006. I worked for our First Nation for 25 years starting as secretary in the 70's and promoted to Financial Manager in the 1980's until 2004. I've also been acting band manager on numerous occasions, when required.

I have gained vast knowledge on the day to day operations of the Band and also why accountability and good financial management is the key to becoming self sufficient as a First Nation.

Communication, equality, respect for all Band members is very important to me. I feel every band member has the right to express their opinions and be treated fairly.
I currently sit on the Gezhtoojig Employment Board & my portfolio is Finance.

In my spare time I enjoy golfing, traveling (football games!) and spending time with my faimly (spoiling my 2 grandsons!).
